Winter White Face Lodge Engagement SessionWinter White Face Lodge Engagement Session Potsdam Based Photographer: Natalie’s Studio| Wedding Photography Sometimes Mother Nature seems to have a sense of humor. When planning Michelle and Chris’s engagement session we simply wanted some snow and ice. And you would think, living in Northern NY, that wouldn’t be too much to ask. Our original date of the session was in January after all. Well… it was approaching the date of the session and there was absolutely no snow and the ice was not safe to skate on. So we picked a new date… still no snow. And as the weeks went by I was starting to get worried. So Michelle told me that they were attending the ECAC Hockey game in Lake Placid. And that sparked an idea. What if we could get fun hockey photos of Michelle and Chris enjoying the game. So that is what we decided on. But… when I called to be sure I could bring in professional gear to the ECAC game I found that was not allowed. Oh no…. Enter a Winter Nor’easter Storm… YAY!!! Only a few days before their session the whole north east got lots of snow; I was pretty excited about the storm. And we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Thirty five degrees, sunny with fresh white snow! So we went to the White Face Lodge in Lake Placid and had a beautiful engagement photo session. The rustic lodge and Adirondack background looked great with the fresh snow. And the ice rink was open so we got to play a little hockey! (So to all of those out there hoping for Mother Nature to cooperate with your photo session… just have faith.) Michelle and Chris are such a sweet couple. They both enjoy winter sports making White Face Lodge the perfect location for their wedding this July. In fact Chris even proposed while at the top of Whiteface Mountain when they were snowboarding. And they both love Hockey. Christopher is in a men’s league. And the team pretty much makes up all of his groomsmen. Chris and Michelle love to play hockey together, snowboard, hike… just about anything outdoors. Michelle also rides horses competitively, including dressage. Michelle and Chris actually met at his grandmother’s farm when he was helping move horse jumps. I can just see them someday owning lots of land (which will look amazing since Chris does landscape architecture) and really enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer.
