Golden Hour Waterfall and Field Maternity Photos in Adams NY

This photo shoot was so wonderful and made me remember just how much I love what I do! Heidi and Matt are such a great couple. I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding a few years ago and now they are expecting their first child. So when Heidi gave me a call I was elated to be part of their next great celebration. Being part of peoples most important moments is such an honor. Sometimes I wonder if my job is "important enough", photo shoots like this make me realize that YES it is! I am tasked with making beautiful mementos for people to cherish all their lives and pass on to the next generation. Time travels so fast and it is so important to take the time to capture that. Think of looking back at your parents and grandparents images and how wonderful it is to see them through the years. It is important to do that for your family too.

I am very excited to meet the new addition to the Dewitt family coming in June.

We also went to Talcott Falls in Adams. It is just the greatest waterfall to photograph. It is easy to get to, shallow and so much fun to work with. For this shoot I choose a fast shutter to freeze the water. Mostly because it was not going to be easy to use the tripod for the situation we were in. I like the how Heidi chose a maxi dress that shows her baby bump but has some style to it. I like the flower detail, it goes well with the natural feel of the waterfall.

Heidi choose white and black for this part of the photography session and I think it gives great contrast to the sunny field photos. It helps the couple stand out against the texture of the brush but keeps in nice and neutral. Plus it coordinates with her other outfits making it work well as a Wall Collage or in an Album. And the simple pink bow helps draw attention to he baby bump and the focus of the photo session.

Heidi wanted a golden light photo shoot so we choose an evening session and found some great sunlight at the Murry Trail over in Rodman NY. The sunny (yellow) photos were photographed right out of camera like that. No computer filters here! To get that look you simply need to wait until "Golden Hour" Which happens about 1 hour before sunset. I recommend and app call The Photographer's Ephemeris. It is an I phone app that not only tells you when sunrise and sunset is, it also tells you the angle. It costs a little bit but is worth it.
